Smartphone Photography - Portraits in Nostalgia - From The Vintage Train, NYC (part 2)steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello Steemians!

Last month I presented the first part of a three part series of portraits I took whilst riding the Nostalgia Train that runs the month of December in Manhattan as one of the many holiday events that take place here in the city. It's my absolute favorite! It appeals to my love of history, literature, anything holidays, and, of course, street photography all rolled into one for a perfect Sunday afternoon! I had a blast imagining that the people I bumped into riding the train were characters from a novel or perhaps a writer or a film star from the past. As most people are there for fun and to show off their antique clothing, they're cool with being photographed when approached, all they ever ask for is a copy of the shots which I'm more than happy to oblige!

Whenever anyone asks what they should do or see when they come to NYC during the holiday season, I always say the windows on 5th Avenue, of course! The tree at Rockerfeller Center, the Nutcracker ballet or the Rockets at The Radio City Music Hall, a visit to the Food Hall at the Plaza Hotel (although that's awesome all year round), the Winter Village at Bryant Park, which even has a skating rink. But, I always top off my recommendations with the Nostalgia Train -- for the price of a subway ride can buy hours and hours of fun, especially if the jazz bands are cranking! So, if you're planning on being in my neck of the woods next year for Christmas, work in a Sunday ride to the past and who knows? You might just run into me! Now, it is with great pleasure that I offer to you...
