Chapter 1: The Beginning of an Unspoken Bond

In a small village surrounded by vast green fields and winding dirt roads, there lived a young man named Phon. He was a hardworking farmer, always up before sunrise to take care of the cattle and help with the harvest. Life in the countryside was simple but fulfilling, and Phon had never wished for anything beyond what he already had—until one day, everything changed.

That change came in the form of a girl named Ing, who had just returned from the city to help her uncle run a small grocery store in the village. Unlike other city girls, Ing blended in effortlessly, her laughter bright and her presence warm.

Phon first saw her at the marketplace, carrying a heavy sack of rice on her shoulders. She stumbled slightly, and without thinking, Phon stepped in to help.

“Here, let me.” His voice was steady, and his grip firm as he took the sack from her.

Ing looked up, slightly surprised but grateful. “Thank you. I didn’t expect anyone to help.”

Phon merely nodded, not used to long conversations with strangers. But something about Ing made him want to say more.

“You just moved back?” he asked, his voice quieter than before.

Ing nodded, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Yeah, been away for a long time. But I think I like it better here.”

Their eyes met for a moment, and Phon felt a strange warmth in his chest. He didn’t know what it was, but for the first time in a long while, he felt something shift in his quiet, predictable life.

Little did he know, this small encounter would be the beginning of something neither of them could yet put into words.

To be continued…
