Pink-Geek list series - Skincare

Here is one of my first series list on the beauty category. Here, I provide a LIFESTYLE APPROACH to a healthy and glowing skin. This list is very summarized and my next posts will go deeper into one or two points, providing a more in depth explanation for my recommendation for each rule. These recommendations are based on years of reading books, doctor journals, dermatologist compilations and skincare expert advice.

  1. USE THE RIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE The skin has different needs according to the seasons and skin type
  2. CLEAN AND HYDRATE YOUR SKIN DAILY
  3. CLEAN YOUR PHONE - 16% of phones carried the bacteria E.coli..eww
  4. WASH YOUR PILLOWCASE EVERY TWO WEEKS - 45% of pillowcase carried bacteria
  5. TRY FACE PUMP EXERCICES - Just like your abs and legs, to stay young and toned the skin also needs to move
  6. PROTECT SKIN EVERYDAY FROM THE SUN - Sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer. Yes, the sun will provide you with Vitamin D even if you have sunscreen.
  7. DON'T SMOKE - smoking makes your skin look older, contributes to wrinkles, decreases blood flow, makes skin paler, depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health, damages collagen and elastin.
  8. GET ENOUGH SLEEP - While you are dreaming, your body is working to get rid of dead blood cells. You can tell when someone has not slept enough by their dark circles, dehydrated skin and more noticeable wrinkles.
  9. HAVE A WELL BALANCED DIET - in my next posts I will dive deeper into what type of superfoods help the skin, for now focus on adding at least 3 of the following into your daily diet. There are more food items that are very healthy overall, but these are my top for skin health:
    a. Fruits – blueberries, rasberries, cramberries, oranges, avocados, kiwi, watermelon
    b. Vegetables - Spinach – Brussel sprouts
    c. Proteins – salmon, eggs, almonts
    d. Guilty pleasures – dark chocolate
    e. Plants – Chamomile, cilantro, coriander, bay leaf, thyme

And you, what are you doing for your skin health?
