SketchCrazed – surreal, lurid, unzipped
SketchCrazed is an opportunity for me to share the very strange drawings I do. The common thread is in the attempt to explore new relationships of form, contrast, and pattern, and to see where they take me.
Heart of Darkness
I drew this image of a woman sorcerous with fetishes and magical paraphernalia after reading this line in Joseph Conrad’s classic novel Heart of Darkness:
"And from right to left along the lighted shore moved a wild and gorgeous apparition of a woman." – Joseph Conrad

I imagined her taking long strides through the reeds at the river’s edge, on her way to some strange dark ceremony and oblivious to the boat of strangers watching her. Her presence is completely unfathomable to captain Charles Marlow, so that she seems like an apparition, something unknown and maybe not even human (to him).

thank you so much @slothicorn!
I really like how you adapted traditional stylistic elements but made them something unique.
thank you @see.feel.write - it's fun to allude to things in these simple ink drawings, without getting into much specific detail. I am fascinated with insect anatomy too, so I like having the opportunity to integrate some kind of appendages or leg details wherever it helps.
