Photo Essay of a Famous Canadian Skateshop
STEEMIANS, Welcome to AntiSocial Skateshop in Vancouver BC. Main Street is a central hub for skaters in Vancouver. Halfway between the East and the West - close to downtown - and relatively affordable, Main Street hosts a long standing skateboard shop and gallery founded by professional Skateboarder Rick Mccrank and his then girlfriend Michelle Pezel.
In the early 2000's I started an independent project called The Sloth Skateboard Company. I pressed boards through Watson Laminates in San Diego. I did the graphics and had them silk screened (a dying art in the skateboard industry) by pro skater Zarosh Eggleston. Here is a Photo of two of my Sloth boards up at AntiSocial!
I love their floating product case! This long bar has a glass top and is filled with Toy Machine Stickers, hard-to-find skate videos, HUF socks, curb wax, shoe laces etc! It also acts as a great "elevated" dance floor at art shows and parties...
Here is a photo of Co-Founder Michelle Pezel working the shop. She has stayed true to the business and you can almost guarantee that she'll be there when you visit. Also pictured here is a FAMOUS large photograph of skaters in Vancouver taking over the streets on one epic June 21st for "Go Skateboarding Day"!
Wall of amazing shoes! I love how well curated this place is. If you skate, this is a refreshing CORE Skateshop! You won't find surfboards in here...
I've spent many a night hanging out on this front stoop at art and punk shows. So many good memories! Thanks AntiSocial for keeping it real!
