Afternoon everyone ….

Ok, I’m kinda stumped on this one. I received this email from SD Bullion of a newly released Johnson Matthey round. I’ve been a fairly long term stacker, meaning I’ve have been collecting/stacking for over a five decade span now.

And this totally STUMPS me…..

See Johnson Matthey stopped refining gold and silver in 2014 after over 160 years in business. In 2015 they sold all of their facilities and machines to Asahi Holdings in 2015. In that sale there was verbiage that stated they were not allowed to use the Johnson Matthey name, brand or logo on any of their products.

I did a bunch of digging and research and can’t come up with anything on this. Johnson Matthey has not gotten back into refining or producing any precious metals per everything I’ve read. Yet I’m about to share with you a newly released Johnson Matthey round.

The only thing that I can come up with logically is that there was a ten year period on the name and branding which obviously has expired.

So without further ado….

It’s a very classy design, and I think that it’s well produced. But I am still perplexed…..
