In honor of mom
Afternoon everyone …..
I’d like to start my post with a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to every mother out there. It’s your special day, I hope that it is filled with love and joy.
Mother’s Day is extra special for me. First off, I was born on a Mother’s Day Sunday. Then the fact that my dad passed away over four years ago now. So I have moved back in with my mom to keep an eye on her. She’s 82 and has lymphedema in her legs and does get around the best anymore. It’s been a complete role reversal. All the things she did for me growing up, I’m now doing for her. I do all the cooking, the grocery shopping, pay the bills, take her to the doctors, etc.
I know not all moms are the greatest to their children. Some are actually quite the opposite. But my mom is the nicest lady in the entire world, just ask anyone she comes in contact with. How she gave birth to such a wiseass is beyond me, but I guess it’s checks and balances.
What I’m really trying to say is if you still happen to have your mom around, don’t take it lightly. Time is something you never get back, and we only get a definitive time with them. So do something special for the one that painstakingly put you on this earth. She deserves it and more, for putting up with you all these years. The least you can do is say thanks, bring her some flowers and card. Maybe even take her out to brunch or dinner.
