Justice

Afternoon everyone…..

Today I’m going to share with you a piece that I picked up a few months ago when I was ordering a piece for my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. It’s a coin that is produced by the Scottsdale Mint. One of my favorite mints for sure. There designs and execution of their items is top notch.

This coin started being produced in 2021. They have released it each year since then.
It’s a coin produced for Gibraltar and has a face value of one pound.

For those of you who don’t know of Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located on the southernmost tip of the Iberian peninsula, guarding the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean, with Morocco situated 14 miles away across the Straits of Gibraltar.

Here is a blurb from the Scottsdale Mint website:

2024 Gibraltar Lady Justice

Lady Justice stands as a universal symbol of fairness and balance. Originating from ancient goddesses of truth and virtue, she embodies impartiality, reason, and authority. The blindfold signifies unbiased justice, the scales represent weighing evidence, and the sword symbolizes the power to enforce the law.

The coin's obverse features Lady Justice, blindfolded, holding a sword in her right hand and scales in her left, with the Latin phrase "fides et justitia." The reverse showcases the Gibraltar Coat of Arms, along with weight, purity, content, and denomination.

It is hard to see the detail because it’s so shiny. Here are some pictures with it shaded.
