Malta
Afternoon everyone…..
First ever coin produced by the Germania Mint. It’s not a new release, and they have since released a 2025 version. But I thought it was worth sharing.
If you don’t know the Germania Mint, you are missing out. They produce some absolutely beautiful serial numbered shiny bars in multiple sizes. They also have a Lady Germania round series that is crazy popular.
But this is their first coin….
So why is this such a big deal?
For starters the design on the coin is fantastic. Second it’s a very high quality product. Third all the rounds ever produced by them have increased in price on the secondary market.
Here is some information on the coin from their site…
Obverse: Golden eagle in battle with a snake
Reverse: Central Bank of Malta coat of arms
The eternal battle between good and evil seems to have no end… This is the theme of the first bullion from Germania Mint. The majestic Golden Eagle struggles against the dangerous and vicious serpent, symbolizing temptation. The clash between Europe’s strongest eagle and the reptile takes place against a background of sea waves. They refer to the Mediterranean Sea, on which Malta is located, as Central Bank Of Malta is the partner of this Germania Mint issue.
The reverse of the 5 euro bullion coin features the effigy of Malta, placed on a wreath inspired by a painting on the ceiling of the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta. The whole is surrounded by olive and palm branches, a symbol of peace. Lily blossoms refer to majesty and glory, while roses are an attribute of purity and harmony. It is also the first coin to bear the Germania Mint’s mint mark.
