Afternoon everyone…
A little over a week ago our community member @bulliontools did a post offering up some silver for purchase. He had a few nice items on there including a sealed Johnson Matthey bar. Which was gobbled up quickly by @silversaver888.
But he also had this piece up for sale. It’s a two ounce Komsco Mint stacker shield bar.
Somehow I missed these on their initial release, and I’m not a big fan of buying after market prices. So I just never picked one up.
I DM’d @bulliontools to see what he was looking for on this piece. He came back with a fair price and we made the deal.
Thanks @bulliontools👍🏻
Here is some info on it:
Chiwoo Cheonwang's mythical Doggaebi Shield now comes separately as a 2 oz Silver stackable piece of ornate design. A Doggaebi is a mythical guardian creature that wards away evil spirits in Korean folklore.
Medal Highlights:
Contains 2 oz of .999 fine Silver.
Light antiquing helps to hide spots or scratches that may come while stacking.
Each stackable medal comes in a capsule.
Obverse: Front side of the shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang with the ornate Doggaebi design.
Reverse: Back side of the shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang with ornate Doggabi design such that multiple pieces will stack neatly nested one within the other.
In 2016, KOMSCO introduced the 1 oz Silver Chiwoo Cheonwang medal, honoring this legendary figure. The Silver medal saw immediate widespread appeal for its .999 fine Silver content, unique design and exceptionally detailed finish. Only 30,000 of these medals were produced in the first year of issue with just 50% of that available outside of South Korea.
Now for the piece….
