Sickle Cell anemia is a group of disorders that cause red blood cells to become misshapen and break down -making the cells die early leaving a shortage of red blood cells and can cause occlusion of blood flow (sickle cell crisis).

As you may already know, the Sickle Cell gene is inherited from parents by kids. If both parents 👪 carry the sickle cell gene (AS or SS), their kids might be born with sickle cell. 💞

Children born with sickle cell are fighters 💪, as they have to battle pain almost everyday of their lives while they try to lead a normal life.

The sickness can be managed but it can not be cured, therefore prevention is the best action against Sickle cell -this means couples need to find out their genotype before having kids to better plan and make necessary decisions towards the future.
