Sepia Saturday Feeling groovy

Happy Saturday everyone and as it is Saturday time for a Sepia Saturday post for the challenge hosted by @old-guy-photos.

For this post, I will focus on my favorite bridge in NYC, the 59th Street Bridge

The title feeling Groovy comes from the fact that its a song I love by Simon and Garfunkel, and when I first heard it was about the 59th Street bridge in NYC decades ago I as a young lad dreamed but never expected to see it, little did I know I would be working in Manhattan now and seeing it every day.

Here are the lyrics to the song

The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)"

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy

Hello, lamppost, what'cha knowin'?
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't'cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in doo-doo, feelin' groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' groovy

I got no deeds to do
No promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you
All is groovy

The actual Name of this bridge is Ed Koch Queensboro bridge but it is also known as the 59th Street bridge or the Queensboro Bridge.

Some facts about the bridge, It runs from Manhattan to Queens, and was officially opened in 1909, the upper level has four lanes for vehicle traffic, the lower level has five lanes for traffic, and the only number I could find on how many vehicles cross the bridge daily are from 2015 when almost 175 Thousand vehicles crossed the bridge daily

Thanks so much truly appreciated :)

These are spectacular shots and from so many angles! Looks really great in sepia!

I was very disappointed, because there was no time to take photos of any bridge while we were in NY. Another reason to go back!

There are many bridges around NYC of course, but this one has always been my favorite closely followed by the Brooklyn Bridge :)
Next time is the right attitude ;)

I keep this one in mind........I have to photograph them both for sure!

If your ever planning on walking across one of the bridge I recommend the Brooklyn Bridge its a nicer walkway

That's what we were planning actulay, unfortunately we had no time..........but yes, definitely in the future 😊

Its good to have plans for the future :)

Oh yes! I have lots, lol.

I do as well, but I had to trim down my to see list when I had to stop flying, but I still have a good list ;)

Yeahh that how one groove it!! I do agree, that bridge is my favorit tooo :D ok not that i actually saw alll bridges in my last visit but the once i caught ;) :P
Great choce to use sepia here, did you test the old-feel as a filter to??
I so enjoy the underneath takes you do , they make the bridge look so much larger and the details of the frame work pops out to :D awsome water texture hunny :D
&&&& lyrics, for a song!! aww you know me, im in love ;) LOL
superb post :D

Its one of my favorite songs I must admit and it comes into my head every time I see this bridge so almost every day :)
I shoot most of my photos in RAW format and in color and choose what to do with them in Lightroom and photoshop so I do not use any filters on the camera

So great the steel construction is beautiful. But if you are a pedestrian are you aloud to walk their on the lower level??
B

You can walk across the bridge but its not as nice as the other walking bridges here as the pedestrian walkway is right by the cars, when there was a big Power outage on the east coast a few years back they did open one level for pedestrians and that was a fun walk to do then

Amazing photo :) Cheers :)
