Collecting Arugula Seeds

in #seedsaving8 years ago

Last year we attempted to grow some arugula. I say attempted because that's all it was, an attempt LoL

We had some very hot days in spring last year and the arugula (and radishes) bolted! So, I tried not to complain, because it meant I would have lots of seeds to share! :) I made up probably a hundred or more little packages of seeds and gave them away to friends and gave plenty to the seed swap table at the Sherwood Park Seedy Sunday event.

This year, in the spring, a few seeds that had fallen when we collected the arugula last year sprung up and did the same thing! LoL

So I didn't pull them and now we shall harvest a billion more arugula seeds to share!

Here's to seed saving and collecting! :)

You picked a bad year to attempt to grow these seeds, as we had nothing but rain for the most part of the summer well at least here in Ontario, where about's are you located? Thanks for sharing and good luck next season.

I'm in Edmonton, these were in our garden about an hour outside the city. We didn't get that much rain here though, a normal amount. By the time these sprang up from the seeds spilling there last year, summer was in full swing and the heat got them again LoL

Guau nice to see how this seeds could be collected
Thank you so much.

There are so many edible plants that make their seeds this way :)

Hopefully, it will grow well for you next year :) I have them going all over. Love plants who like to self-seed.

Yes! Self seeding is awesome! Although, it can be a pain in the ass with some haha
