A space rock greater than the London Eye is on "close approach" with Earth, NASA has cautioned.

Named '2016 NF23', the expansive chunk of room shake has been marked "possibly dangerous" and brags an expected measurement of up to 160m.

To place that in context, that is the same as the stature of the Walkie Talker high rise in the City of London, and around 20 or so meters greater than the London Eye, which remains at 135m, and 50m greater than St Pauls church, which measures around 110m.

A chart from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab indicates exactly how its circle meets with Earth's, with the space rock drawing nearer and closer to our planet in the days paving the way to August 29, when it achieves its nearest point. As of now, it will be around .03 galactic units (au) away – or around 3 million miles.

The US space organization's NASA's Earth Close Approaches page reports that the 2016 NF23 space rock is plunging quickly at a speed of around 20,000mph.

Space rock 2016 NF23 likewise falls inside the classification of 'conceivably risky items,' which are those that achieve a base separation under .05 au from Earth and have a flat out extent (H) of 22.0 or brighter. Space rock 2016 NF23 has a flat out extent of 22.9. Lately, NASA has turned its concentration to observing close Earth objects evaluated to be bigger than 140 meters, as 90 percent of those bigger than 1 kilometer have just been found.

In correlation, only 10 percent of these littler – yet at the same time possibly calamitous – objects are thought to have been found to date.
