The Carina Nebula (NGC 3372)
NGC 3372 is a gigantic emission nebula that extends for more than 300 light years, due to its relative proximity of 7,500 light years and its large size, is 4 times bigger and bright than the Orion nebula, although Carina is only visible In the skies of the southern hemisphere.
Within the complex of molecular clouds that form this nebula, there is an ionized gas pillar 3 light years long, which has been informally called "Mystical Mountain" because of its impressive shape captured in this photograph of the Hubble Space Telescope. This cloud is being eroded by the young stars that form within it, the material coming from this erosion is expelled outwards in the form of 2 contralateral jets of matter, which are called objects of Herbig - Haro and are clearly Visible on top of this titanic cloud.
