dancing bee
hello guys !! today while i m studying for my next biology test I found out one of the many wonderful things in our world !!! you knew that bees communicate by dancing ??
There are essentially two main forms of dance!
The first, the waggle dance, is the richest form of information! The bees perform this dance when a bee or bee forager explorer returns from a particularly rich food source, bringing with it both nectar in the stomach either pollen grains in special tasch formed by the bristles zampe. This dance follows a trajectory in the form of eight and it is performed on the vertical surface of the comb. A dance cycle is composed of three parts:
- a circle having a diameter equal to approximately three times the length Bee
- a straight section path by swinging the abdomen from side to side
- another circle path in the opposite direction to the first.
The straight section provides the most important information of the dance. The direction of the straight section is in fact correlated to the position of the sun. If the explorer has located the food in the direction of the sun, will accomplish the oscillating straight section along the vertical honeycomb, that is along the direction of the force of gravity!
If the food is located at 60 ° to the right of the sun, the oscillating portion will form a 60 ° angle with the vertical of the honeycomb! This dance also provides information about the distance of the food source!
If the food is close to the hive the Explorer performs a simpler dance, this circular dance.
The dancer is limited to complete one circle clockwise, then he turns around and makes a circle counterclockwise, repeating this sequence several times.
The worker bee, then, flying out from the hive and look for food in all directions but not too far!
I hope you found this topic interesting as much as me !!!!
Hello guys see you soon !!!
