#17 "21 - JUNE" in World HISTORY
1948 - The first computer based on von Neumann's architecture, the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine, the first stored computer program was launched.
Von Neumann's architecture - the first type of computer architecture developed by John von Neumann, John W. Mauchly and John Presper Eckert in 1945. A characteristic feature of this architecture is that the data is stored together with the instructions, which means that they are coded in the same way.
In this architecture, the computer consists of four main components:
• computer memory storing program data and program instructions; each memory cell has a unique identifier called its address
• a control unit responsible for downloading data and instructions from the memory and their sequential processing
• an arithmetic and logic unit responsible for performing basic arithmetic operations.
• input / output devices for interacting with the operator
The control unit together with the arithmetic and logic unit form a processor.
A computer system based on the von Neumann architecture should:
• have a complete and functionally complete list of orders
• be able to enter a program into a computer system via external devices and store it in memory in the same way as data
• data and instructions in such a system should be equally accessible to the processor
• information is processed there by sequentially reading instructions from the computer's memory and executing these instructions in the processor.
The given conditions allow you to switch the computer system from one task (program) to another without physical interference in the system structure, and thus guarantee its universality.
The von Neumann computer system does not have separate memories for storing data and instructions. Instructions and data are encoded in the form of numbers. Without analyzing the program, it is difficult to determine whether a given area of memory contains data or instructions. The executed program can modify itself by treating the instruction area as data, and after processing these data instructions - start to execute them.
The computer model using the von Neumann architecture is often referred to as an example of a digital (PMC) machine.
1990 - About 40,000 people died in the earthquake in the province of Gilan in Iran.
2003 - A farewell concert of the German Modern Talking duo took place in Berlin.
Modern Talking - German dance and pop duo, which gained popularity in the 80s thanks to the release of such hits as "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "Cheri Cheri Lady", "Brother Louie", " You Can Win If You Want "," Geronimo's Cadillac "or" Atlantis Is Calling (SOS for Love) ".
The hallmark of the band in most of the songs is the second part of the chorus sung with falsetto. The team operated in 1983-1987, when it decided to suspend its activity. In 1998, the duo decided to return to the stage and change the genre of their euro disco music on eurodance. Then he released new versions of famous hits, including "You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98" or "Brother Louie '98". Until 2003, the band released new CDs with the premiere material every year.
On June 21, 2003, during a farewell concert in Berlin, the duo announced the end of their activity.
The band sold 160 million CDs around the world.
