INTRODUCTION:
- In this third part of course on the retaining walls we will talk about the different loads applied on a retaining wall.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF LOADS APPLIED ON A RETAINING WALL:
- The outbreaks of land:
Fig 01: thrusts of land on a retaining wall designed by myself.
This is the result of land thrusts applied on the vertical wall of the retaining wall applied to the lower third of the veil.
Overloads on the embankment:
Fig 02: overload on the embankments on a retaining wall designed by myself.
This is the result of the overloads applied on the slopes of the retaining wall applied to the half of the veil.
Land stops:
Fig 03: Land abutments on a retaining wall designed by myself.This is the result of land abutments applied on the vertical wall of the retaining wall applied to the lower third of the veil and it is a stabilizing force.
Reactions of the soil:
Fig 04: ground reaction under a retaining wall designed by myself.
- It is a stabilizing force due to the reactions of the soil.
