That was exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it, the torsion forces must be creating enormous stress on the middle wing section. The concept as such is nothing new, they had planes like that (smaller of course) in WW2 already. But they were always joined at the tail.
Well, lets hope they know what they are doing...
No... I meant what I said... And after taking another look,
I think the Tail section should be connected...
