WORLD FISH MIGRATION DAY

The world celebrates the migration of fish today on this note the University of Lagos, Department of Zoology, Natural resource conservation flagged a symposium on awareness to the public on our knowledge on how fishes are migrating

A lecture was given by Dr. Ben Ebonwu from (Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research NIOMR Victoria Island Lagos)
It is discovered in a place like Nigeria that fish is very important as it can be said fish is very important in livelihood as it serves as source of livelihood for the poorest people in the world on this note we need to be aware of the migration of fish.

Fish move from their natural habitats and spawn and die if not properly managed. Some factors also contribute to the spawning of the fishes for example the availability of Dams, thus affects the fish immensely

There is need for us to preserve, we discovered there is no legislation binding fish migration, this are part of the things to take into consideration

There was also talks by students on how we as individuals has on or two roles to play in helping the fish migration. This event was later capped with cleaning of lagoon which was done at the unilag lagoon front.

Next time you are planning on dropping a waste in an aquatic environment consider the life's inside the water and the people depending on the fish for livelihood.
