I have thought about this too and I also had trouble getting people to understand the concept. We agree that red is red because, when we were very young, someone pointed at that color and said "this is red" but the red that you see may be different from the red that I see because our minds may interpret it differently.
It's a pity that we were alone in our efforts to understand the world and ourselves as part of this world.. It's hard to stay true to your ideas, when everyone around, and even adults, says that you're wrong. But I'm happy now to know that I'm not alone anymore :)
