I was a teacher for both children and educators most of my life.

i will be posting experiments you can do at home with your children

Science at your home - Volcano

All you need for this experiment is:

  • 1 small plastic water bottle (open and empty).
  • 2-3 spoons of Soda-bicarbonate powder (from your local store).
  • 1 cup of Acetic acid – 5%-7%.
  • Liquid food red color.
  • a Newspapers which your don't need.
  • 2-3 cups of mud from your garden.

The experiment:

Take the bottle and warp it with the newspaper, try to build a nice mountain. Stick the mud all over your mountain, to give it a look of a real one. You can add some plants and flowers as a real mountain.
Pour the red color in the cup of acetic, in order to give the solution a reddish color similar to Lava color.
Pour the Soda powder into the bottle and add the Acetic acid.

In 2-3 seconds A chemical reaction will start, between the two components, and the CO2 gas – one of the products of this reaction will cause a strong flow out of the fluids. It realy looks like a volcano.
