Sarok Festival

Our municipality celebrated its foundation day every 14th of February. It is called "Sarok sa Consolacion". Sarok festival is a mardi gras and it is the main highlight of the celebration and features a street dancing competition. The term "sarok" comes from a kind of hat made of bamboo strips and dried banana leaves. Sarok festival has become a way of promoting the culture and the beautiful town of Consolacion.

During my high school days. I was one of the dancers of Tribu Tayuranon, representing the school of TNHS. I remembered we are the champion of Sarok Festival year 2013 and we won again in 2014 a 1st placer. Sa kahago, sa kakapoy, rain or shine og sa kalipay. Di jud mabayran. Its such a wonderful experienced I ever had. I've never experienced celebrating valentines with a someone special but it doesn't mean that I always had a boring valentines :)

The contigents of the festival are pupils and students from different schools of Consolacion. They wear attractive customes that fit for the kind of presentation of their choice. The sarok used as main props comes various design which enhance one's sense of imagination. Presentation are judged according to performance, choreography and custome.
