Expected: Salah selected as Premier League Player
Liverpool's winger Mohammed Salah won the 2017/1818 Premier League Prize in the Premier League English poll at the Association of Professional Footballers. The Egyptian left the Manchester City trio Kevin De Bourne, Leo Sane and David Silva behind, as well as Tottenham's Harry Caine and Manchester United's David de Hea.
"It is a great honor for me to be chosen by my colleagues," Salah said after receiving his London prize, "I am very happy and proud." I thank the players who have nominated me.
Salah leads the Premier League goal scorer with 31 goals in his first season in Liverpool after coming last summer from Roma. He has 41 goals in 46 games in all tournaments and will face his former team in the Champions League semi-final this week.
"My personal desire is to win everything with the team, and I always think of the team first and then of myself, the most important thing is to bring the trophy to the team as much as we can," the Egyptian said.
He is the seventh player of the Reds from Anfield, who won this prize, as Luis Suarez did in the last season before 2013/2014.
Leroy Sane won the Best Young Player Award. The 22-year-old German helped City win the title and this season has 9 goals and 12 assists in 28 games. After him came Harry Caine (Tottenham), his team-mates with skyscrapers Rahim Stirling and Ederson Moraes and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United.
Fulham's Ryan Sesselion won the No. 1 prize at League Championship.
