The history behind Arakan's arrival in the country is behind the Kuakata name. The word 'well' comes from 'coup'. It is believed that in the 18th century, the Arabs migrated to this region after being expelled from Burma by the Mughal rulers. So here they had digged a lot of wells or coupes to meet the lack of clean water, from that time the name of this region is called Kuakata.
