Territorial gains, are they worth it?

In 1 year of fighting, Russia achieved a net territorial gain of 128.69 square kilometers. For comparison, Chicago has 607.44 square kilometers.

This Pyrrhic victory was achieved due to

• 10:1 artillery advantage
• Massive glide bombs being dropped 24/7
• Drones and missiles from Iran, millions of shells from North Korea, and support from China
• Ukraine not being allowed to target Russian territory with Western weapons

And all of this just across the Russian border. Imagine the United States, more than 800 days after launching a full-scale invasion of Mexico, gaining only 20% of the size of Chicago, while suffering constant drone attacks on American cities and having its oil refineries blown to smithereens.
