Roller Blades

Roller blades were invented to move fluid easily and quickly, but there was very little mechanical friction. This is why they were designed to move at high speeds. In the process, they also lost the ability to move at low speeds. In contrast, a mechanical clutch gives the driver the ability to control a car. The roller/clutch configuration has been used for over a thousand years and has proven very adaptable to many driving circumstances.
