Roanoke Virginia tore down a statue of the traitor and ardent defender of the enslaving of human beings, Robert E Lee.

In it’s place they are erecting a statue of… Henrietta Lacks, the original donor (without her consent) of the HeLa immortalized cell line.

That moment of sanity on the part of the Roanoke city council is a note of hope for the future.
