Roadtrip - Jack Daniels Whiskey Distillery in Lynchburg

in #roadtrip8 years ago

Hi,

during my latest Business Trip for my Company to Nashville we had one Day of and we decided to visit the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg. Is is approx. 1 hour away from Nashville, in the middle of nowhere.
You pass a lot of different small Farms and it look like Time is not moving there.

When you arrive at the Jack Daniels Property you can Park free of Charge and there are enough Parking lots.

When we arrived the Jeep Gang was already there :)

The Property is very clean and well maintained, you get free lemonade and Water in the Shop.

The Angel Tour is quit Cheap and take about 1 hour. (16 US Dollar) We had to wait like 10 Minutes.

You goe by bus to the starting Point of the Tour, bring a Rain Coat when it rains, since a lot of the Tour is outside! (you can buy Ponchos in the Shop)

They explain you everything about the Process how the Whiskey is made, starting with the right wood for the Fire, and to Protect all the Whiskey you need a proper Fire Guard.

They had never a Fire and lost no Warehouse. (he sad that is quite Rare) They are quite Proud of the Found which started already in Young Age. ( i think he was 12)

They claim it's all about there own Water. They use only that.

They have also still the Old Founder House where everything started, the Safe is still the first one!

They go thru every Step with you, but in some areas your not allowed to take Pictures due to Fire Risk.

Quite uncommon for Whisky, Jack Daniels never Print an Age on the Bottle, the Reason for that is, that they mix the Whisky from different Barrels until they think they have the Flavor they want.

If you spent 10k USD you get a Single Barrel Special Edition. (like 250 Bottles all from one Barrel)

They get filled here.

You get also a Plate with your Name and the Barrel Number on the Wall. (The US Army was leading on that Wall by far...)

When you leave the Factory you will notice that a lot of the Trees are Black, that is not due to Fire, it is called Black Frost. It comes from the Process when the Whisky is made and is all around the Distillery.

It is all really natural and looks not like a Huge Industrial Complex.

Then it got really interesting, we entered a Barrel House!

Of course we got some whisky shots :) That was quite nice, since they explain you how and why there are different Kinds of Jack Daniels Whisky.

They have also some fancy Golf Carts :)

After That Tour You end in the Store, where you can buy the different Kinds of Whisky Bottles (quite expensive)
You can also get Laser Engraved Bottles with your own Logo (even more expensive)

After that we went to Lynchburg, which is only populated by 361 People. But it is very old School and lovely.

We were very Hungry and Tripadvisor said that this BBQ Barrelhouse is the Best Place in Town.

And that was really true awesome Food and authentic Location!

That was the End of our Trip, it was really cheap and a very nice and different experience!
If you are an the Area you should visit it! I would rate it 8 out of 10.
