RE: RICKY GERVAIS: THE "ONE-TRICK-PONY"

Awesome post except...Extras! The episode with Kate Winslet made me laugh so much I cried. It was just the look on her face at the end when she was being told off, it was priceless. Extras was a slow burner too, it became less about the stars as the series progressed and more about the foibles of the main characters. E.g when Ricky's character is playing the lead role as a gay man in a play- it's so amazingly cringy waiting for him to screw up.

Agreed, Extras was hilarious. I still quote Patrick Stewart's famous catch phrase now "It's too late. I've seen everything."

There's just something so inexplicably comical about the idea that you can never retract nudity once sighted, and that an upstanding respected actor like Stewart would be so obsessed with seeing girls naked.

However, I felt Extras had low points and missteps along the way that The Office didn't have. Then again, it also had the weight of expectation behind it that could never be met.

The Christmas Special made up for it all, but I can't erase Lizzie's birthday party... it just seemed out of place and a loss of focus for the show.

Brilliant, thanks. Impressive how Patrick mostly kept a straight face through out.
