Reviewing my writing

in #reviewing6 years ago

This is my 40th blog since i started writing on Steemit. I now need to go over what i have been writing about. I have touched on a lot of subjects. Neuroscience, Brain plasticity, habits, practice, consistency and playing different styles of guitar. Getting in the habit of writing is the main goal i set up for myself. Putting my thoughts out into the world. Just doing it on a daily basis is very satisfying. We are habitual creatures and our brains like a challenge.
I am a Songwriter, working at writing songs for my next project. When i start a project i get an incredible buzz, traveling is a good way to get out of the habits at home and shake up your writers mind. I wrote a lot in my journal over the 2 months of my travels. Now is the time to review what i did and like a sculpture, i can now start chipping away at my writings and put them into form. I am reading "The Source" by Dr Tara Swart, for the second time. Reviewing what i read is how i build on my understanding. My chattering mind is hard too control when i read, quite often i have to re-read a paragraph a number of times before i can shut up the inner dialogue. Like an artist painting a picture, i need to stand back and reflect on it where i am going.
Each day i keep thinking about building on what i have achieved and creating something new that will surprise me. Writing songs is a curious process, i have been actively doing it for over 15 years and the writing doesn't really get any easier. I am always coming at it from a beginners perspective. I tend to blaze ahead and start fresh each day but i really need to stop and review what i have done and see what fresh ideas i had forgotten about. Having a plan for reviewing your writing and editing it keeps it fresh and new,
