Motorcycle Travel Series by @velimir 'Labyrinths' (Part #192)

in #review7 years ago (edited)

Soon the road ends and fine gravel path opens in front of my wheels. I follow it at low speed. There is no one around, but anyway. I have a feeling, telling me that I have discovered something interesting. There is a sign saying: "Welcome to the city of labyrinths!" Apparently, there is "no stronger place of power known to man than a labyrinth". Hm, a strong statement. I could think of a few more...

It says that a walk in a labyrinth will treasure you with good feelings and revive your energies by its healing powers. Wow, I could definitely use some of that. Winter is not my most energetic time of the year.

The author states his case by letting us know that labyrinths have existed in all civilizations on all continents since the early days. And here I always thought these were walking pastimes for bored nobles after they've learned the floorplans of their mansions by heart and lost the thrills and joy of walking in circles through countless chambers. Oh, ignorant me... :D

A walk in one of these will "make you feel better, calm, relaxed, healthier so you may easily return to your daily activities". Hm... Nobody's around. How about riding through one? Like a practical test od riding skills? Maybe they can also revive and rejuvenate my engine. One never knows with all those powers, you know...

Jokes aside, I appreciate this place. It is an interesting looking project made of hard rock. I had no idea that this place exists. Now, the next thing to do is obvious. Let's take a walk in a labyrinth, see how it feels. A little childish, I know, but can one really run away from his own self?

I was wondering what is the actual difference between a maze and a labyrinth? This is the answer, I've found.

Although both maze and labyrinth depict a complex and confusing series of pathways, the two are different. A maze is a complex, branching (multicursal) puzzle that includes choices of path and direction, while a labyrinth is unicursal, i.e., has only a single, non-branching path, which leads to the centre. Some labyrinths have a spiritual significance. They signify the complex and long path to reach God. Mazes are used in science experiments to study spatial awareness and (sometimes) intelligence.

So time to test the powers of these labyrinths!

Enjoy your day! :-)

This is a very nice post @velimir.
Your previous post on 'Riding steep downhill curves', it was really related to this because it involved you circling and riding around curves.
I really love labyrinths made of stones and turf and love it more because it is not tricky like the maze. A maze doesnt let you concentrate because in a maze, all you are thinking about is how to find your way out.
I Trust you sat quietly to reflect before walking the labyrinth. Some people come with questions, others just to slow down and take time out from a busy life, which i know you are very busy. Some come to find strength to take the next step just like you also said. Riding your bike around it might give it some more strength and rejuvenation:)
What i love most about it is that the journey is a personal one—everyone gets something different out of the winding walk.
It’s unpredictable. I can’t tell you what a specific individual should expect to experience, i dont know if any other person was around you, if you asked the person what the experience was all about, you’ll get different answers and i have to admit that they aren’t for everyone. Some people will walk through them and feel nothing. My sisters did the walk, but felt nothing. Only deep thinkers like you @velimir gets the most out of such walk. The way you look at something and get a message from it and even write a whole post about it is admirable. Your level of concentration is really unbelievable, thats why i always look forward to sections of your posts where you say "look closely you will..."
But that’s all part of the mystery of the labyrinth. :)
I am happy you appreciate this place.
I have a recommendation, you should try out finger labyrinth, especially when you want to meditate a bit. Its similar to a full sized labyrinth above except it is on a much smaller and more portable scale. The user traces the path to the centre using your finger rather than with their feet. Let me give you a quick walk through it, although it could be childish, but it sure works well:)
Take deep breaths to begin to relax and focus on the entrance to the labyrinth.
Place your pointer finger from your non-dominate hand on the entrance of the labyrinth. If you find this too awkward at first, use your dominate hand. However, over time, keep trying your non-dominate hand. This helps keep the mind focused on the meditation due to the challenge it presents.
Slowly trace the pattern of the labyrinth with your finger allowing your mind to clear from extra thought and focus solely on following the path of the labyrinth.
“Walk” to the centre of the labyrinth and rest momentarily, taking deep breaths observing how you are feeling.
Retrace your path out of the labyrinth.
Sit back, breathe deeply and relax. Observe how you are feeling again.
Thanks for the post, it was really engaging. I enjoyed it.

thank you for this awesome comment! :)

You are welcomed my friend.

I am really enjoying this beautiful Motorcycle Travel Series. I often wait for your blog as i am addicted to it @velimir.

This episode is emphasized on Labyrinths a city of puzzling paths covered by ancient rocks.
You mentioned in humors way that you wanted to take a ride on this beautiful path to get yourself healed. By the way i really need that healing power for my immune system as it is very weak.

The very first picture of the blog shows path is covered by Calcium Carbonate is it so?

One more thing i noticed in one of your pictures that there were 3 sticks standing with a bench. What is that??
As you quoted;

A maze is a complex, branching (multicursal) puzzle that includes choices of path and direction, while a labyrinth is unicursal, i.e., has only a single, non-branching path, which leads to the centre.

These lines at the end clear all the confusion created in my mind regarding Maze & Labyrinth.

Waiting for your next Episode.

Keep sharing your artistic work with us.

Stay Blessed :)

This post is incredible! The photos are out of this world, your seeing things!
The rocks formation is beautiful.
Such a nice place with giving energy with a place to sit and get energised.

I am very grateful to you for posting this message!

Wishing you a very peaceful and happy New Year 2018.
All the best and thank you again for your kindness and compassion.

Nice post @velimir loved reading it....thanks for sharing

the bike logo is terrific.

this is the real beauty, even beauty, and most beautiful:) the Labyrinth of stones is something from the past and it has hypnotic effects, it seems that behind this lies the meaning of sacred. It is scientifically proven that in such places have a completely different energy. This particularly applies to the places which previously were rituals of sacrifice. I wonder what you felt when you were in a place like this one:)Thanks this is very interesting

Now this labyrinth may make a person calm and relaxed but if you're in a labyrinth made of thick bushes in the middle of the night and you can't see around the next corner, I don't think I would be very relaxed haha. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones my friend

To achieve a goal: you should expect that fear will be crawling up your shoulder. Vanquishing the fear makes it more rewarding. Sometimes we just fail. Recognise your mistakes, and you'll be heading the right direction of the labyrinth.

A little too philosophical for me, but I hear ya

:) Well, cut short: Just keep a rollin'!!!

Labyrinths are very cool! only one path , but there is something very meditative about doing something with little thought. I also think that the spiraling patterns are beautiful! :) Thanks for sharing!

Thankyou sir ... i don't know the difference before..keep travelling
