Commodore Format (February 1992)

Cover of the February 1992 issue of Commodore Format

By 1992, the Commodore 64 market was almost completely dead in the U.S. However, in other parts of the world, particularly the U.K., it still had some life in it. In fact, in this issue of Commodore Format they claim over 100,000 Commodore 64s were sold over the Christmas 1991 season. Commodore Format was one of a few Commodore 64 magazines still around in the U.K. at the time. It had an emphasis on games but covered other aspects as well. The February 1992 issue includes:

Games

  • First Samurai - An arcade adventure game featuring a young Samurai warrior.

  • Creatures II - An arcade/platform/adventure game featuring Clyde Radcliffe in a sequel in which he must rescue his kidnapped family.

  • Neighbours - Race various kids machines (go-carts, bikes, etc.) around the neighborhood). Here the gameplay is compared to Back to the Future II. It reminds me a bit of Paperboy.

  • Space Gun - Wander around the corridors of a direlect spaceship killing aliens.

  • Famous Five - A series of graphic adventure games.
