If you do things the way everybody else does them, why do you think you are going to do any better?
I think sometimes we tend to think that we are special because we are capable of achieving some awesome things, but truth is, that no matter how good you think you are, if you are not consistent with your efforts towards getting better, you will never know how far you can go. If you are actually working in the exact same ways as your competitors that could be others firms or your same company colleagues, do you really think you are going to be the best for no special reason?
I know that accepting the fact that trying new ways of doing things is not as safe, prudent or conventional as is it to just stay where the rules are set. But, if you truly want to accept the challenge of trying every day new ways to improve yourself, you will actually learn, while staying in the same place for lots of years may cause you the opposite. Life is risk, all in life is like that. No matter how bad you think it is, if you don't want to take any risks because you think you are not prepared, then you will never be. Taking risks is not as bad as you may probably think, specially when those risks are not as huge as we pretend to exagerate them sometimes...
You don't necessarily need to build the best ever business to take risks, but start with smaller challenges that may result in bigger self-confidence in order to observe how you truly are. We don't know ourselves enough until we are exposed to fears, uncertainty, challenges and new ways of approaching new mindsets. The best advice any entrepreneur or big history character could ever give you is to always keep trying, no matter how bad it gets, you will always find a way out.
Take that shot,
Cheers,
Feli
