Diet For Renal Disease

The renal diet focuses on the adjustment in the intake of protein, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and fluids and an adequate intake of protein and calories to meet the need of the patient.

Food Groups

Food groups are grouped together because they share similar nutritional properties.
Food groups for Chronic Kidney Disease focus on specific content– protein, sodium, phosphorus, and potassium content.

What Is a Renal Exchange List?

The renal exchange is a list of foods containing similar levels of protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium and fluid. The major food group has one or more sub-groups based on the levels of sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium and fluid.

Vegetable List

1/2 Cup Cooked:
