The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said. (Peter Drucker)

A relationship we have at work, are really important for building a satisfactory career. One can’t maintain a healthy relationship at work unless they are ready to understand, listen and respect co-workers and communicate openly with them. Networking is very much needed in a long career. Meeting new people, building relationship with them and moving ahead together is what makes you the best person at work.

Why to maintain professional relationships?
It is not that all of us will work with the same people forever. While working for each other we need to have a healthy atmosphere with positive interactions. This makes everyone happier and also helps in productive output. You never feel your working place is boring, in fact you start enjoying your profession when you keep good professional relationships.
Here is a list of things you need to take care of in order to be a pro in maintaining professional relationships with your fellow beings.

1. Trust your people
Trust is the most basic thing you need to have on your colleagues or people in your network. Be open and honest to discuss anything with them.

2. Quick check-ins
Though it is hard for keeping in touch with everyone every day, keep a reminder to reconnect on your calendar on a weekly or monthly basis. Just say hello and ask how they are doing, this helps in having them forever.

3. Provide professional leads
When someone needs a work to be done by a professional, try referring someone from your own network.

4. Meet in person
Meet people often for coffee or lunch. Try inviting them for any occasions at home or outside. It does the trick.

This will go a long way in maintaining the relationship you have with others for a very long time
