Jamaica’s Minister of Industry, Commerce Agriculture and fishery Audley Shaw announce partnership with Harvard aimed at improving countries competitiveness in the Global Cannabis Industry. Effort at getting this partnership going will start as early as 30th of September. The founder of the event Gorden K Douglas said participation in the Global Cannabis Industry is a great opportunity to change the economic fortune of the Caribbean Region. Hence CanEx can provide that platform where all the players could meet and exchange and discuss all things cannabis.
Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis said farmers should form themselves into cooperatives this he said will allow them to share and take advantage of the many opportunities that are going to present itself. He said he is batting for the indigenous farmers and the rastas whom he said have suffered to keep this industry alive.
A conservative MP Chrispen Blunt in the government in England said Canada and England should work together to help with banking so that the Caribbean Countries can solve their corresponding banking issues. He highlights the fact that we are commonwealth countries, and in that context, he sees some good possibilities. He promises to lobby his government.
Montel Williams he is a radio personality from the USA and motivational speaker.
Former CEO Bruce Linton of Canopy, the multibillion dollar traded cannabis company spoke of a 50-25-25 plan he is working on to help Jamaica. I not sure I understand the plan so I wont say any more about it. He also rates Jamaica Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) highly. He said Cla. is in the top two in the World straight up.
St Vincent and the Grenadines Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar suggest that the Caribbean should take a unified approach to the developing Cannabis Industry. He said too often small states are pitted to compete against each other which he said devalue our offerings.. He said Caricom and the oecs states need to take a collective approach toward developing standards and trade agreement.
Westmoreland Hemp and Ganja Farmers Association (WHAGFA)
We represent two hundred and add farmers in the parish. The organisation was invited to participate. We brought plants and other products. One of our farmer won the best sativa. His name is Wabba. He is from Brighton a district below Orange Hill. He is a consistent farmer and has won my awards in different Cannabis and Ganja competitions.
Other farming group present was Accompong represented by it's Cornell. They along with Whagfa are selected by the government for two pilot project. The Colonel is in the meddle of this pic and he is in light blue.
ReggaeSteem was also present at the conference and expo. I brought along with business cards, brochures and other reggaesteem display material.
I made a lot of links on behalf of ReggaeSteem that I will be following up on. Link with Dr Lowe one of the foremost researcher, he has many patent waiting approval from the FDA in the lUSA. I will be meeting with Teo Chambers soon to discuss possibilities regarding reggaesteem and his companies. He told me he has some ideas for us to work on. He had to companies there and another reggae site. One of the company is a discount club with about one hundred and fifty members. The other on display is a wellness site. The share healthy life styles, food, restaurants etc. I dont remember the nature of the reggae site but I will know when we meet.
The first token we try to get going was Whagfa. We wanted an STO. We went to the Jamaica Stock Exchange but they did not want to have anything to do with cannabis at the time mainly because of banking issues with the Federal Government of the USA. However recently they the Jamaica Stock Exchange let @donald.porter and I know that they are ready for business. Now our focus is on ReggaeSteem. But we are not far as I am still the chairman of Whagfa currently hence the involvement with CanEx.
Pictures of awardees
Ofcourse there cannot be a Cannabis Conference in Jamaica without the music. The main reggae artist was Mikey Spice and on stage in this pic presenting him with a Peter Tosh Award is Peter's daughter; dont remember her name...
.
@miyard, In my opinion it's reflecting as Year 2019 is dedicated to Cannabis.
Efforts of ReggaeSteem team is really appreciable. Stay blessed.

It's good that they want to open projects that benefit Jamaicans and further progress their economy and new items that can economically grow the island can be incorporated.
Sound like they know they can't beat the best from west. But I understand what they are saying, if the region work together, the entire Caribbean can benifit.
Look pon this duh eeh, couple years ago this could a never happen, the US free it up and now the rest can follow. What a world.
Hopefully something will come out of your conference. They're legalizing edibles here in a couple of weeks. People are looking forward to that https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/marijuana-cannabis-edibles-extracts-vaping-1.5174844
