steem-music 008: I need my Memory back! #SONGOFTHEDAY

in #recordpool7 years ago

I remember very vividly in high school. My friend was blurting out the chorus to the Sugarcult hit known as Memory. Immediately he attracted an entourage who came to sing along with him

This may never start, tearing out my heart, I'd be your memory

I thought to myself: "So this is how you get girls, Sing punk music!!" #jokes

We all sang along anyways cause the melody was catchy and it was so fun to scream your lungs out to tunes after school.

This was me back in high school, music was such a great way to connect with people. I wasn't joking when I said every time during recess or high school, we would have a campfire gathering without the campfire and sing to punk music. Those times, we were so into bands like Saosin, Cute is what we aim for, simple plan, green day.

Immediately the melody was unforgettable. It had become so ingrained into my memory (pun intended). I had no idea who Sugarcult was but this one song was enough to make me fall in love with the band!

Fast forward to today, I guess I've been so caught up with work and real life events it got the best out of me. I haven't been on this platform for a while and it's because I come home from work everyday have dinner, and go to bed. Guess I am adulting right now...

I guess that's why I'd playback to this song, It brings out the little child in me who wants to scurry around and break things. Maybe that's why I loved punk music. To other people it may be loud but to me:

It's so expressive

it's so bold

and it's so relieving... (especially when you scream your lungs out, remember Yellowcard? haha!)

Here's the rock version of the song

But these days in the office, I prefer a soft rendition of the song. You guys should totally check out the playlist of punk goes acoustic on Spotify! Delicious music if you're into acoustic and punk rock music. We're a small niche, I know.

I'd recommend you to listen in Spotify as this version on youtube got cut out in the end and it's a pretty big killjoy.
Hope you guys enjoy! :)

So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.
Holding on to feel the same.

Oh my! Used to put this song on the replay!
Thanks for bringing back memories... and hahaha! I'm still a big fan of Simple Plan till today.

OH HEY! Good taste in music ;) Are you a punk rock fan too? hahah! So nostalgic right! IT was the good ol guitar shredding punk rock days :)

So is yours. Haha! I am and I still am. More like Rock in general. And yessssss so nostalgic. My Spotify still full of these songs tasteless people called noise. These days songs are pop/dance/electronics and they all sound almost 95% similar, like you can't really pick up who's the artist singing. 🙄

wuah. you so cool one during high school? I want to grow up to be like you lah :p

hahah! I'm only following steem-music founder's footsteps ;)
