Flourless chocolate cake is a rich and decadent dessert that is perfect for chocolate lovers. As the name suggests, it does not contain any flour, making it suitable for those who follow a gluten-free diet. Instead of flour, the cake typically relies on eggs, sugar, and melted chocolate to create a dense and fudgy texture. Here's a basic recipe for flourless chocolate cake:
Quantity | Ingredients |
---|---|
8 ounces (225 grams) | dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids) |
1 cup (226 grams) | unsalted butter |
1 ¼ cups (250 grams) | granulated sugar |
4 large | eggs |
1 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
¼ teaspoon | salt |
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
Break the dark chocolate into small pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl. Add the butter to the bowl as well.
Create a double boiler by placing the bowl over a pot of simmering water. Make sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir the chocolate and butter mixture until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until the batter is smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cake has cooled, you can dust it with powdered sugar or serve it with whipped cream, fresh berries, or a chocolate ganache.
This flourless chocolate cake is rich and indulgent, with a dense and fudgy texture. It can be served on its own or accompanied by your favorite toppings for added flavor and decoration. Enjoy!
