Making blondies but with store mix

in #recipe2 days ago

I decided to try a store-bought mix to make cake!

I usually don't do this as I prefer making it all myself, but I thought to try this as when I'm tired, it makes the process a lot quicker, and after using this, it definitely was !

The brand Mr Kipling is well known in the uk, and has some really delicious cakes, so I was excited to use this mix. I also really love blondies of course!

the box

As you can see, this should make 16 slices, but in the end, I got 15 - not sure if it was my baking tray that was too small?
Not only that, but on the bottom right is the indicator of how healthy it is. If it was very healthy all those boxes should be green, but as you can see, it's mostly red which isn't that healthy, but they are delicious!

the back of the box

On the back are the instructions and any ingredients you would need. I really liked that it had a QR code for a step-by-step video as well! That helped with making sure that the consistency was correct.

Ingredients

In the picture above, the large white bag is what came in the box.
Of course, the mix is only the dry ingredients, so that makes it be able to stay in the cupboard! I had the egg, water and I used butter instead of the oil.

the bowl

In a large bowl, I melted the butter and added all the ingredients. One thing that I was a bit shocked at was how the instructions specified to use an electric whisk. Not sure why but luckily I had my (almost broken) one available.

whisking

I tried to take a picture while whisking, after seeing the photo I realised some mixture got on my camera 😂

Whisked mixture

In the above picture, you can see that while I was whisking that the mixture had chocolate chips in it! I didn't see them when I first poured it in.

finished whisking

After whisking for the specified 3 minutes, it was ready to be put into the baking tray! I saw that it said I needed an 8x8 tray, but I didn't really bother to measure it.

ready for the oven

I liked that the box also had the timings for if you wanted a fudgy cook or a harder one, and as I like it a bit fudgy in texture, I put it for 22 minutes!

out the oven!

After the 22 minutes it came out with a crispy top and moist center, just like the box said it should!

delicious!

And after it cooled, I can guarantee it was delicious! I'd recommend if anyone was tired but wanted a fun quick bake!

Hope you like it!
