Bill Gate's 2018 Summer Book: what is genius? Where does man come from?

in #reading6 years ago

As in previous years, Bill Gate, one of the world's richest men and co-founder of Microsoft, announced the recommended summer 2018 booklet on his blog. This summer book for "Leonardo Da Finch", "the cause of everything" and some other lies I love, "Lincoln in the middle world" "the story of origin: all about the great history, the truth" and so on. (editor's note, part of the Chinese title is temporary translation, yet no official title).

Gates wrote that these 5 books let him think about what the intrinsic motivation of genius is. Why do bad things happen to good people? Where does human come from and where to go?

Gates believes that the 5 books he recommends are very interesting, and most of them are not long. Even if it is a thick "Leonardo Da Finch", it will not take too long to read.
The following is Bill Gate's recommendation for summer 2018:15270309137681305530eea.jpg

(Leonardo da Vinci)Author: Walter Isaacson
I think Finch should be one of the most fascinating characters in history. Although he is known by most people as a painter, however, from Finch's anatomy to drama, his interest has been widely appalling. AI Isaacson described the different aspects of Da Vinci's life with the highest way I had ever seen, and explained what made him so different. AI Isaacson's two other great biographies about Einstein and Jobs are also worth reading.

(Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved)Author: Kate Bowler

When Duke Theological Seminary professor Bowler was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, she began to try to understand why this happened. Is it a test of her character? The result is the birth of this sad but strangely interesting memoir of faith, which will also start to take your life and death seriously.

(Lincoln in the Bardo)Author:(George Saunders)

I thought I knew all the information I should know about Abraham Lincoln, but this novel made me rethink some chapters in his life. The book mixed the historical facts and imaginary elements of the American Civil War, basically a long dialogue between the 166 ghosts, including the ghost of the late son of Lincoln. I have a new understanding of Lincoln's need to undergo the dual forces of pain and responsibility. Some books are fascinating and obscure, which makes you want to discuss and discuss with friends after reading. This book is one of them. Editor's note: the Chinese version of the novel is about to be published by Zhejiang literature and Art Publishing House. )

(Origin Story: A Big History of Everything)Author: David Christian
David created my favorite course in history: great history. It tells the story of the universe, from the first big bang to today's complex society, to weave the views and evidence in a variety of disciplines under a separate narrative framework. If you haven't taken the course of history, the story of origin is a good introduction. If you have already attended, this is a good review. No matter what category you belong to, this book will give you a deeper understanding of the position of mankind in the universe.1527030915333dcdef610af.jpg
(Factfulness)Authors: Hans Roslyn, ora Roslin and Anna Roslyn Ulen
I have recommended it since the first day of the book. Hans left us last year. He was a talented global health lecturer who taught you a breakthrough to understand the basic truth about the world: how people's lives are getting better, and in which ways the world still needs to be improved. He also interspersed unforgettable anecdotes in his book. This is the final message of a wise man, one of the best books I have ever read.
