What is the Concept Behind RDD?

RDD has a very simple concept of use: Tip Good Content on Social Media.
I'm actually a bit baffled how such a thing hasn't taken off yet, neither with traditional nor with digital currency.

What is Happening with the Project?

Reddcoin was announced on January 20, 2014 as a Scrypt Proof of Work (PoW) digital currency via a Initial Public Coin Offering (IPCO) on BitcoinTalk.Org with a goal of becoming a new cryptocurrency fully integrated into social media. After raising upwards of $100,000 in funding through the IPCO to support development, Reddcoin was released to the public on February 2, 2014. In exchange for financial support, 5.45 billion reddcoins were distributed to IPCO investors over the course of 90 days beginning in mid-February.

Going forward to 2017, the next big development release for RDD is the launch of the Redd-ID. This will allow users to associate a username with rich information including public keys and social network identities, making tipping a very easy process. The timeline for this release has been missed and this project appeared to be dead. However, there's been a series of good news recently which appears to have put the development behind this coin back to motion:

Let's Be Positive!

I am very positive about this coin. Activity has really picked up again and I believe that good things will happen any moment. Having said that, one has to be modest and realise the scope of this digital currency: a tipping coin. We're definitely not looking at another Bitcoin! But, at the moment RDD is very very cheap and it's definitely now the time to buy a good volume.

There is a mixed reaction by the community staking in this coin. Some are worried and post that they have given up, whilst others are as positive as I am. This has been going on for several months now, especially since the RDD team seems to have gone quiet before September. However, this gives me even more confidence to recommend holding and investing more as no fake coin would have survived the same rough patches this cryptocurrency has gone through.

Also, some may argue that the supply available is too big. However, we have to consider that there are billions of people across too many Social Media platforms who follow particular people and are willing to tip them for their relevant content.
