Stay motivated, Don't let Steemit disappoinment become Steemit failure.

Steemit is a great idea and the world would be a much better place if facebook and youtube were more like it from the start. It's about time advertisers paid us to watch their bloody ads and platforms paid us to view their shit because it's our time being spent. Steemit has swooped in and fixed that issue, it's a big deal.

Naturally, as Steemit becomes more known and as its value rises, a lot of new users will flock to the platform, in hopes of making a buck and finally establishing themselves as the most popular kid on the block. Well, as every minnow like myself knows by now, it isn't that easy. the crowd here can be tough and votes limited. Oh yeah, sure it looks easy, just post about cryptocurrencies like everyone else and you'll rake in the pay dirt, right?

Wrong! Most persons with high rewards on their posts are already well established and powerful on the site. They have a lot of followers and people already interested in the content they post so it isn't hard for them to acquire the attention they work for. It's not unfair, it's a fact and a fact that you can use to your advantage as well. Don't try to be like anyone else, be yourself and work hard at it.

Constantly improve the quality of your posts and interactions. Don't just be a drooling bum hungry for a bite of anything, or an angry ranter, swearing that the system is unfair and the whales are all cheating. Don't let that week long list of posts with less than 15c reward on any of them make you unsure of yourself and hate the platform. Create and develop an image, a product, a brand and you will have the following and attention you need in due time.

Think about Steemit like making friends in life. There are lots of people walking around, lots of things to be interested in and places to be. However, you don't simply meet someone new and take an immediate interest in them and their lives. Friendships must start from a small seed and grow into a blooming tree, bearing good fruit. If it is not cared for and nurtured, weeds will simply overtake it and stifle the tree out, plus, not all seeds grow into nice trees.

Spend time on the platform and find things to be genuinely interested in, if you can't find them already there, then create them, you will be doing all of us a favor. This alone will help you and the platform grow, Steemit needs more content and more diverse interests. it is not the whales that must change for the betterment of the minnows, it is us minnows that must seek betterment for ourselves. Remember, you have the power!

Great message!

I joined a year ago but only started posting last month because I was intimidated by the high paying posts all being crypto based. I'm not very savvy in that area. When I popped in to take a look last month I saw a broader range represented and decided to give it a shot.

I write what I like but I do put a lot of time and effort into writing and editing; trying to either entertain or give emotionally of myself for the benefit of readers.

I followed a lot of @shayne's advice. I try to spend time focusing on the new intros and commenting with genuine recognition of what they've posted and I've gained many followers that way.

Three weeks in I have 109 followers and my posts generally see a worthwhile payout. Not hundreds of dollars but I'm breaking 15 frequently and have been within spitting distance of 100 a couple of times.

It's not going to replace my income or anything but I'm doing what I love (writing) and getting some remuneration for it. I think that's a damn good deal 🙂

Coming here with the expectation of just posting and getting rich is bound to disappoint. It takes engagement and patience.

Yah, you'll never make it as a small fry if profit is your only drive :)

Now I come to understand that the single most important thing is our involvement in the community, which I am putting effort to build now.

Thanks for your motivational article.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You're welcome, I needed some motivation myself :)

You nailed it!
