America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln
I wish to talk about something important regarding the future of our country. America has been unequivocally the only nation in the history of this world that truly conceptually was "for the people". " We the people" was the soul nurturing phrase the brought immense greatness upon this nation. A miracle it must be to have sprouted from the evil roots of " I am king".
This country' s history will stand as a colossal monument to defeat of depravity and the glory of self governance for the prosperity of it's communities.
Bit by bit, the dark side of human nature seeped into the structure. Greed, power, fame, lust all slowly and impercibly embedded themselves in the society. Some traits cherished in the name of progress, others hailed as great change but all deviated from the wisdom of the founding fathers. The foresight of the founding fathers was truly astounding. You may call it miraculous, divine or a stroke of genius whichever you fancy most.
All is not lost. The great people of the republic today are no different than those who laid down their lives hundreds of years ago for independence. We have had trouble in finding good leaders. Leaders have found trouble in curtailing shadow government. There are systems beyond the reach of the judicial branch or the executive branch and the legislative branch has lost its worth in the eyes of the people. " We the people" have lost control and representation. The remnants that remain of the proposed system now resemble " I am king" structures.
Still " we the people " have not been broken. Our unity remains the quintessential source of the nation's greatness. Although we are now a shadow of what used to be. Even our shadows are still stronger than any.
The greatest danger to our country will not stem from the outside but from the inside.
It is far easier to divide than unite. When divided, wars are the outcome. When united, revolution takes place. A cause for the benefit of the entire community is what unites people as it did for our independence. Anything and I mean anything beyond a cause for the totality of community is divisive. Many many groups can be named but the idea is more important than pointing fingers.
Whatever your beliefs are today they may change tomorrow. It is hip and fashionable to join a group and chant a slogan. Before you do that you must analyze it. It must impact the well being of all around you regardless of their color, creed or race. If it does that then it is worthy of your attention. If not then ignore it. I can understand the frustrations of various ethnic groups but they all must also remember that they can only improve when everybody improves. We are a community, a brotherhood, a nation and our lives and prosperity are tied together. You have nothing if you lose each other.
Say no to racism today!
Very good point. Couldn't agree mote :)
I agree with the spirit of your essay but not all of the content. I think the above statement is a veiled way of saying, minorities should stay in their place and the middle-class should be content with the 1% getting more and more of the wealth. I think the truer statement is—when conditions for oppressed minorities improve, society improves.

I shared this because it is the truth!
United we stand, divided we fall. Those are some of the wisest words ever uttered, (IMHO). Today it seems we are a divided country, and I, (unlike many I guess), do not see the divide as one of race.
The divide I see is country/rural versus city/urban. Look at the election maps from the last 4 elections. The divide is growing. It is not a race thing, it is an area thing. It is no longer the North versus the South, it is the City versus the Farm. It needs to change, but I do not see that happening anytime soon.
The more we connect between country and city on steemit, the closer we come to bridging the divide.
It has been awful to watch the current events unfold and our leadership's response (or really lack of it).
We desperately need to unite and change the direction that our country seems to be moving. Thanks for writing this and speaking to it.
