Could Ferrari Leave Formula 1?
If engine regulations set to begin in 2021 take effect in Formula 1 racing, Ferrari is threatening to quit the series to start its own series. FCA boss Sergio Marchionne has revealed Ferrari could start a new race series if relations with F1 continue to degrade.
Motorsport.com reported on Marchionne’s remarks at Ferrari’s annual pre-Christmas media dinner event.
“Some people say that our threat about the 2020/2021 regulations is a bluff, but they’re playing with fire,” Marchionne said. “The previous contract made it impossible for the team to evaluate an alternative outside of the circus. Now we can analyze the possibility to create something similar to Formula One in terms of a show.
“There is the possibility to create an alternative championship from 2020/2021,” Marchionne added. “We can’t ignore this possibility, but I prefer avoid it if we can.
“I would like to continue with Formula One, but we have to find compromises that don’t leave Ferrari without the possibility of showing its DNA in every race,” the FCA boss said. “If we can’t find that, then Ferrari has to go away. If Ferrari can pull out other teams, we have to see it from an economical point of view, but I think that we are able to do it.”
As we get one year closer to 2021, only time will tell what Ferrari may decide to do.

I dont think ferrari will ever leave F1, thats their entire thing is that they have had so many wins.. they havent in a long time but i hope that changes. As a person who's owned a few of them im really pissed off at the direction theyre going with their cars. The 488 was horrible and the 812 doesnt seem like will be much popular. I canceled my order on the 488 and kept my 458 and hoping to maybe snatch an f12 pretty soon. I really hope they change up what theyre doing.
