What is a cell phone contract in the first place?
A cell phone contract is an agreement between a cell phone user and a mobile phone dealer. Having a contract phone means that you pay a single monthly fee for a fixed period of time.
Most mobile phones have contracts set at either 12 or 24 months and they provide mobile customers with a handset and a monthly allowance of calls, data and texts.
Below are some methods of cancelling a cellphone contract
**Contact Customer Service**
It is the most logical step to take but is also likely the least method to succeed especially if there are no valid reasons for your decision. If you have a valid reason for the termination, it would be wise you opt to speak to a manager who will likely have more authority in making decisions.
Consider Selling Your Plan:
Contact your service carrier in order to have knowledge on the processes involved in selling a plan. You can also find someone who would agree to buy your plan sequel to the fact that your current plans suites the individual or entity.
Take Advantage Of the 14 days Grace Period:
Some cellphone contracts usually have a grace period of about 14 days. Endeavor to confirm this provision and follow due procedures in terminating the contract. If the agreement is still valid, you can return the phone.
Use Social Media:
If you have any legitimate complaint against the carrier, do well to take your grievances online using the appropriate #hashtags. It would be more productive if you have many followers on the major social media platforms. You might be able to win the fight because the company wouldn't want its name to tarnished publicly.
In a nutshell, you can cancel your contract free and with ease if you're within the grace period(14days) of usage. Cancelling a contract during any other time can be expensive and stressful. Also ensure that you unlock your phone after you decide to switch service providers as some do lock their users cellphone. Lastly, retainment of mobile number from the previous carrier is fusible if you obtain a PAC from your old service provider and give it to the new one.
I hope this helps you!
The purpose of the contract is to allow you to receive a device from the carrier, and pay for it incrementally over the duration of said contract. You are essentially loaned the cell phone, and at any time if you would like to cancel your plan - the fees you have to pay are in regards to the balance owing for the cell phone. There really is no such thing as a 0$ phone, it's more like 0$ down, you either pay for the phone upfront and you wont be on a contract, or you pay for the device during the 12 month or 24 month period. Hope this helps as well, great post.
