This is a really great post @freedomexists! I think people sometimes stop caring because they just have no more room for sadness and despair in their lives. I live with empathy sickness and I cannot help but feel the same pain as my fellow earthlings. Sometimes, I have to just shut things down (news, facebook, twitter) and not pay attention. It hurts to see all of the suffering in the world. Steemit is pretty loving. It pays to say kind things here because then, people will listen. I completely avoid negative stuff if possible. We already see enough of that in our day to day world. Have a peaceful day. Namaste
