The imposter syndrome affects so many people but they would not admit it...

I have just read the latest post of Melinda Gates on the imposter syndrome. This inspired me to write few lines about it.

Do you know what it is?

It is a personal trait and it is estimated that many people suffer it. How does it work?
People affected by the imposter syndrome tend to think that their achievements are not the result of their efforts, knowledge and competence. They may attribute their success to luck or casualty. Hence, they underestimate themselves and they never feels satisfied.

According to wikipedia, demographic studies show that it is common in high-achievers and, in general, in people of minoritarian groups (to mention some: women and african americans).

It would be interesting to know what people in this network know about it and how people deal with that.

Wikipedia has a page on that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impostor_syndrome
