Stress Management Leads to Healthy Life Style

There are two basic kinds of stress, acute and chronic.

The Mayo Clinic discloses that acute stress is your body’s instant reaction to a major threat, scare or challenge. Automobile accidents, job interviews, job security, marriage problems and financial troubles are examples of stressors that can cause acute stress. Long-term exposure to acute stress results in chronic stress.

The American Psychological Association (APA), in their survey “Stress in America” says that the economy is responsible for eighty percent of the stress factor in people. Ability to provide for basic family needs puts a demanding burden on people.

Headaches, back pain, heart palpitations, sleep disorder, upset stomach, high blood pressure and decreased immunity are just a few of the physical problems that chronic stress can lead to. Behavior such as over or under eating, angry outbursts, drug and alcohol abuse, social withdrawal, concentrating and relational conflicts are also caused by stress.

Eliminate the consequences of stress by not ignoring the symptoms and manage your stress.

Knowing where your stress comes from is important. Then you can take steps to control the cause and not treat the symptom. Keep track of how you got stressed and how you responded.

Stress management would include physical activity, relaxation, interacting with others, talking with friends, professional counselors, good nutrition and adequate rest, just to name a few.

The willingness of a person to make changes necessary for a healthy life style is key factor in the management of stress.

I am beginning to believe that stress managment is often wrong. Its like you hold your hand in a flame, and get burned - stress managment allows you to better tolerate the pain, and teaches you how to put a bandage on, then gives you the willpower to put your other hand in the flame. Thats stupid. Stop putting your hand in the flame.
Yes there are some circumstances where stress is unavoidable, but Im starting to think that we should be doing more avoiding and less managing of truly unnecessary stress.
