Who do you trust

in #proverb6 years ago

In Nigeria they say, you do not insult the mouth of the crocodile while you are still crossing the river. In Ghana they say, "You don't buy guns for your enemy". And in Mauritius, they say "You do not give the hyena meat to watch over." If you do not heed to the advise in these proverbs ,you will have yourself to blame. Well, in the first two, you may not even live to be able to blame yourself. I think the reason you don't give the hyena meat to watch over is obvious -- it will devour it without regret. This proverb means that you can't trust everyone with something that is valuable to you. If someone is a child molester you don't leave your child with that fellow, hoping your child will be safe. If someone is promiscuous , you don't marry the person, hoping he or she will change. What common sense will do, hope does not bother to help. Wake up. Your valuables are not safe with a thief. Your child is not safe with a molester. Your future is not safe with a promiscuous person. As much as you may like to be trustworthy, the truth is that not everyone is trustworthy!
